Kellie Finlayson health update: Jeremy Finlayson wife reveals why she was in hospital on wedding anniversary

Kellie Finlayson, wife of AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, has revealed why she spent her second wedding anniversary in hospital after previously posting a commemorative picture from there.

The 29-year-old, who is battling terminal stage four bowel cancer that metastasised in her lungs, shared a video to Instagram of herself with her three-year-old daughter, Sophia, walking through the halls of the hospital slowly.

The mum-of-one wrote alongside the video: “40ish hours post resection!!”

“Can’t even describe how cute Soph was with her teeny slow steps & encouragement every [two] seconds.”

She added, “Yes she poses every time the camera comes out hence the smile the whole time 😅”.

A resection is described as “surgery to remove tissue or part or all of an organ,” according to the National Cancer Institute.

The author of There Must Be More: Finding purpose in the face of the unimaginable previously did not disclose why she was in hospital when she informed her fans of her condition two days ago.

Kellie Finlayson had shared a picture of herself and her husband beaming and showing off their rings on their wedding day – and a black and white photo of herself currently, while in her ward.

She wrote: “Happy anniversary darl. Two years ago V. Today!”

“Happy anniversary to me,” she added, using a crying with laughter emoji and a bandaged love heart emoji.

Jeremy Finlayson also wished his wife a “Happy anniversary <3,” in an Instagram Story.

The couple tied the knot back in March 2023 in South Australia.

Kellie Finlayson was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 25, shortly after giving birth to her daughter.

She spoke about getting her diagnosis and how she had to remain strong for her family in the face of her terminal illness.

She opened up about the experience of getting diagnosed on Ant Middleton’s Nova podcast Head Game.

“I kind of had to try and process that, while also trying to keep my head strong, funnily enough, so that my husband didn’t crumble, because I needed him to be able to parent as well,” she said.

“I wasn’t the normal mum that she should have had, but I was as good as I possibly could be. It was hard,” she added about her daughter.
