Kellie Finlayson reveals she’s spending her wedding anniversary in hospital amid her cancer battle

AFL star Jeremy Finlayson’s wife Kellie Finlayson is battling terminal stage four bowel cancer that metastasised in her lungs.

This week, Kellie 29, revealed she’s had a bit of a setback with her health and is spending her second wedding anniversary in hospital.

In a public message shared from her hospital bed to her sports star husband, 29, Kellie shared a picture of the pair beaming and showing off their rings on their wedding day – and a black and white photo of herself currently, while in her ward. 

“Happy anniversary darl. Two years ago V. Today!”

“Happy anniversary to me,” she added, using a crying with laughter emoji and a bandaged love heart emoji.

It is unclear exactly why Kellie is in hospital. 

“Happy anniversary <3,” Jeremy said to his wife in an Instagram Story.

The couple tied the knot back in March 2023 in South Australia.

Kellie was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 25.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the room,” she previously said of their wedding to Woman’s Day.

“It was everything and more we’d ever dreamed of. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.”

Kellie recently responded to ‘offensive’ comparisons people have made between her and cancer fraudster Belle Gibson.

She reportedly said via Instagram that she had been compared “several times” to the Australian former wellness influencer who claimed she had been diagnosed with brain cancer and cured it with a healthy diet.

“I have this depth of hate towards her and I don’t hate anyone … I’ve been referred to as this woman’s name countless times, several times a week even.

“It’s a big punch to the face. It’s kicking me while I’m down.”

She also shared a black and white picture of Gibson during her infamous 60 Minutes interview and branded her “disgusting”.

Mother-of-one Kellie previously discussed her diagnosis on Ant Middleton’s Nova podcast Head Game, speaking about her chemotherapy treatment and just how hard it was.

“I lost a s–t ton of weight. I mean, I had a stoma, so I had a foreign object on my stomach. I wasn’t the normal mum that she should have had, but I was as good as I possibly could be. It was hard,” she said about her daughter.

“I was allergic to one of the strands of that chemotherapy, which is why, when I did relapse, I had to change chemotherapy, which meant I lost my hair.

“I was on my deathbed. I was getting anaphylactic reactions every three weeks to this chemotherapy. So I was essentially dying every three weeks, just to get better.”
