kikki.K news: Excitement over stationery company’s ‘glow up’ and rebrand, with Lisa Gorman on board

Published on

Popular stationery brand kikki.K has been praised for what could be “the biggest glow up in Australian brand history”.

Though the Melbourne-founded brand unveiled its “kaleidoscopic new chapter” and refreshed approach to its products last year, some shoppers are only now realising there’s been a change – and they’re loving it.

Publicist Lucinda Bayly Hickling shared her thoughts on the rebrand on TikTok, sending commenters into an excited frenzy.

“Was I out of the loop or have I uncovered an absolute gem,” the caption reads.

“I have something for any Australian brand girlies who are just like obsessed with branding or Australian millennial girlies… there is the most iconic rebrand of kikki.K.,” the content creator’s video began.

Hickling then showed her followers some of the products the brand, which was previously focused on stationery, now sells, including clothing, bags and fashion accessories.

“When did they start doing clothing? This is the cutest jacket. I didn’t even know they did clothing,” she says, displaying one of the current items.

“Am I freaking out about nothing? Like, has kikki.K. always been cool? Have I totally missed the mark? Because the rebrand is so good.”

Many commenters were equally surprised by the overhaul, with one writing: “This CRAZY!! kikki.K. is strictly stationary in my mind??? What a PSA.”

“I walked past one today and was thinking why do they have clothes,” another said.

“It’s all so good! 😍,” another added.

One shopper wrote, “I’m running to buy that tote bag.”

Founded in 2000 with the first Melbourne store opening in 2001, kikki.K has endured struggles, including collapsing twice, but it is now making a triumphant return.

When COVID-19 forced the global stationery brand into administration, it had the rare opportunity to reinvent itself.

Its current owner, Peter Lew’s Brandbank, bought it out of voluntary administration roughly two years ago.

Customers have begun to notice that kikki.K has started selling clothing alongside its regular stationery heroes for the first time.

Its “wear” range includes everything from socks and accessories to denim jackets and button-down shirts.

The brand’s website explains its decision to take an uncharted pathway, writing: “We’re excited to launch this new chapter, where individuality and personal style take centre stage.
