King Charles III has shared a message of unity ahead of Commonwealth Day on March 10, making a pointed reference to his recent meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his invitation to Donald Trump for a state visit.

The 73-year-old is emerging as a potential negotiator amid the fractured relationship between Zelenskyy and Trump.
Just before the televised Oval Office stoush between Trump and Vice President JD Vance and Zelenskyy, King Charles had extended an invitation to the US president via UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for a state visit, which had been accepted.

During the encounter in the White House, Trump and Vance told Zelenskyy that he should be grateful for US support, that he was “gambling with World War III”, and that “your country is in big trouble.”
The Ukrainian president travelled to the UK the day after, when he met Starmer and then the King, with both showing him support.
The Telegraph UK writer Hannah Furness said, “The King, whether he entirely chose to be or not, now finds himself at the centre of a triangle that seems to hold the fate of the Western world in its hands: President Donald Trump, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Sir Keir Starmer.”
