The Danish royal family has visited Crown Prince Christian at his military barracks in Slagelse where he is training with the Gardehusarregimentet, the oldest army regiment in Demark.
This is their first visit to the location since Christian, 19, began his training.
Several photos of the visit have been shared on the Danish royal family’s official Instagram account.
The first photo show Christian warmly embracing his father, King Frederik, 56.
The second photo shows the young royal posing with his peers, all four dressed in military attire.
Next we see Christian standing next to his mother, 53. Mary is dressed warmly in a navy coat over a denim shirt. She wore large sunglasses for the visit.

The fourth photo in the carousel shows Christian with his brother Prince Vincent 14, the pair looking down at a notebook being held by Christian.
Next we see the royal family walking through the barracks led by Christian, with sisters Princess Isabella, 17, and Princess Josephine, 14, by his side.
The sixth photo shows the family in what appears to be Christian’s accommodation with the Danish royal showing his mother some equipment.

The next shows Christian helping his sister try on some military attire including a backpack and camoflauge hat.
The final photo is of Christian with his comrades for what looks like an official military display.
The description posted alongside the photos reads: “For over a month, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince has been serving as a conscript at the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse.”
“The company’s families were today invited to a visit day at the barracks, where the Royal Family had the opportunity to experience the Crown Prince in his new surroundings and meet the rest of his fellow recruits,” the caption continued.
It continues: “It is a long tradition that members of the Royal House serve in the Armed Forces.
“His Majesty the King has himself completed military service, and in 1988 the King was, among other things, a platoon commander at the Guard Hussar Regiment.”

Crown Prince Christian is a conscript in basic training which spans four months.
Military training is compulsory in Denmark for men over 18 who are physically able and voluntary for women.
Queen Mary famously underwent military training in 2008. The Australian-born royal joined the Danish Home Guard and was later promoted to First Lieutenant.

Her military training included learning how to use a weapon, sleeping outdoors in a bivouac and assisting the police in search and rescue operations as well as learning first aid.
After training, the new Queen became a sergeant in the Home Guard 2009, lieutenant in the Home Guard 2009, first lieutenant in the Home Guard 2015, captain in the Home Guard in 2019 and honorary major in the Home Guard in 2023.
Since then, the Queen has participated in activities and exercises through the Danish Army, Navy and Air Home Guard.

Crown Prince Christian is following his father’s footsteps by joining the Gardehusarregimentet, which is the oldest army regiment in Denmark dating back to 1614.
The future king is following in his father’s footsteps with his choice of military service, with Frederik having served as a platoon commander with the Gardehusarregimentet in Slagelse.
